Linn’s new Karousel Bearing Takes All LP12s to New Level of Performance

Linn’s Karousel is a new, innovative precision-engineered bearing design that will improve vinyl playback from every LP12 ever made. (Over 100,000 at last count!) This is only the third new bearing design in the nearly 50-year history of the LP12 and offers smoother rotation and greater stability than the prior Cirkus model.

Karousel is made possible by technological developments in material science, machining capabilities, and mechanical engineering expertise gained from almost half a century of designing and manufacturing the world’s best turntable. That vital union between the platter, spindle, bearing, and sub-chassis is now the strongest Linn has ever achieved. The substantial lock-nut fastening on the stainless steel housing increases rigidity at the critical point where bearing and sub-chassis come together. There are also enhancements to the base of the bearing include stronger housing for the thrust pad that supports the platter rotation and mass, resulting in your vinyl reproduction being more accurate and detailed than ever before.

The Karousel bearing is part of a kit that replaces the Cirkus upgrade and is fitted as standard in all LP12s going forward. The kit includes Karousel bearing, inner platter and spindle, set of new suspension springs and grommets, and oil charge. The Karousel upgrade kit sells for $975.

Our clients that have added the Karousel upgrade to their LP12 turntable have been universally and hugely enthusiastic, reporting a more colorful, engaging presentation of their favorite albums as well as a reduced noise floor. If vinyl playback represents the core of your music listening and you own a Linn LP12 turntable, Karousel is the most fundamental improvement you can make. Contact us for details or to place an order.
